It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Yvonne Patricia Leander (nee Erskine). Yvonne passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at the age of 85. She was surrounded by family in the moments leading up to her death. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Leland Leander, and her daughters Leila (Norman Francis), Lilian, and Yvette. She is survived by her 8 grandchildren: Michael, Tameka (Andre), Nathan, Damien, Nelson, Matthew, Felysha, and Jenelle, as well as 4 great-grandchildren: Tiona, Peyton, Kamane and Jaylen. She was the dear sister to Neville Erskine, Joseph Erskine, and Felix Erskine (Esme Erskine) and predeceased by her siblings Geraldine, Sheila, Horace, Oswald, Allan and Patrick.
Yvonne was born on February 4, 1936, to the late Fitzgerald and Florence (nee Haynes) Erskine in Georgetown, Guyana. She graduated from Carnegie School of Home Economics in Guyana and married Leland Leander on October 14, 1957. Subsequently, she immigrated to London, England, where she worked most notably for Maynard’s Factory. She then immigrated with her husband and two children to Canada. In Canada, she gave birth to her last daughter, worked at Delta Engravers and served in many roles at the Church of the Advent, including Head of the Altar Guild.

Yvonne believed in God and held strong to her faith and moral values throughout her life. Yvonne’s many interests and hobbies included her love for cooking and baking, sewing, enjoying music, and entertaining her many close friends and family. Her love for world travel took her on many wonderful adventures throughout the United States, across Canada, Europe, South America, and many islands in the Caribbean.
Those who knew her over the years got to experience her fierce independence, generosity, determination, loyalty and her love for her family and friends.
