Gastis, Yordana (Donna) – With a deep sense of loss, we mourn the passing of Donna on Sunday March 1, 2020 at the age of 92. Devoted and beloved wife to the late Pantelis. Donna was born and raised in Greece and immigrated to Canada in 1948. She was a loving sister to brothers Larry, George and Billy. Her family opened The Boardwalk Restaurant where she worked until her retirement in the 1976. She will be remembered for her sense of humour, and baking traditional Greek Easter bread.
Donna took great pride in her family and dedicated her life to them. It is a true testimony to a life lived with real integrity and love. She will be dearly missed by her children Marko and partner Shelley, Olga and husband Walter. Her memory will be cherished by grandchildren Cory and wife Kelli, Candace and husband James, Jamie, Matt and wife Ami, Rachel and husband Brendan. Donna was also the proud Big Baba to eight great grandchildren; Drake, Jasmine, Kean, Tatum, Charlotte, Bronwyn, Kyliee and Luke.
Donna was a compassionate spirit who touched every person she met with kindness, understanding and grace. We were all privileged to have known and been touched by this truly caring woman and she will be sorely missed by many friends and family members.
A visitation will be held at Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (North of Lawrence Ave. W.) Weston, on Thursday March 5th, 2020 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. A funeral Service will be held at Sts. Constantine & Helen Church, 1 Brookhaven Drive on Friday March 6th, 2020 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
