Yde "Ian" Straatsma

Yde (Ian) Straatsma was born April 8, 1926 in the Frisian village of Rinsumageast, Netherlands , the 4th of 12 children to Andries and Sjoukje Straatsma.



He married his beloved wife Murkje Damstra February 27, 1947



He saw active service with the Dutch military in Indonesia from 1947 – 1949 reaching the rank of Korporaal



He spent his working life in Holland in the agriculture services business and a career focus of industrial steel fabrication in Canada.



Yde and Murkje were blessed with 5 children, 9 grand children, and 6 Great grand children [to date]



They immigrated to Brampton, Ontario Canada in 1964 and made that community their home to the present.



His favourite past times included flower gardening and singing in his church choir.
