Died peacefully in Brampton, Ontario on April 23, 2016. Ian is survived by his children, Brooke Fraser (Michelle), Barbra Renwick (Steve), Jill Emery (Neil) and Robin Marier (Eric); and by his brother Bruce Fraser of Calgary. He is also survived by his many grandchildren: Morgan and Finn Fraser; James, Olivia and Matthew Renwick; Laurence, Frances and Elise Emery; and Thomas and Elle Marier.
Ian was born on September 24, 1940 in Toronto, Ontario to Bill and Phyllis Fraser. He was an avid lover of sports, playing on various hockey and football teams as a teen, with an intensity and dedication that worried his father who believed Ian should be focusing more on his studies, and on his future. Ian would later channel this intensity and dedication to form the highly successful enterprise Pro-Pharma. He was an active member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada, serving as a local and national executive. At the age of sixty, Ian trained for, and finished, the Chicago Marathon. Hockey would always remain a passion, and Ian took great pride and pleasure in watching his grandchildren play, following them on long distance trips to cheer them on.
Ian was the patriarch of his family. Sitting next to him at dinner was a highpoint. Everyone wanted his ear. He is missed, and loved, always.
A Celebration of his Life is scheduled for Thursday April 28th 2016 at 11am at The Ward Funeral Home, Brampton Chapel, 52 Main St. S. Brampton with a reception to follow at The Peel Art Gallery Museum And Archives in Brampton. Rev. Michael Clarke will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend.
