Winston Augustas Sitcheron, affectionately known as “Winnie” was born on February 25, 1958, in Westmoreland, Jamaica and was the fifth child of ten. As a child Winston attended Ms. Grant Basic school and was known to be an easy going, sport loving person, with a special passion for cricket. Upon completion of basic school, Winston attended Mount Grace Primary School in Burnt Savannah, Westmoreland, Jamaica. After completing primary school, he worked as an Arborist in Savanna-la-mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica before becoming a Painter for the housing department of the West Indies Sugar Company, Frome. He migrated to Canada on August 12, 1989, where he commenced working as a Machine Operator for 33 years until retiring in March of 2023. He was a loving husband to his wife of 32 years, Heather, who he met in 1987 in their hometown of Baulk Rd. Westmoreland, Jamaica and wed on August 22nd, 1992. He was an amazingly supportive and loving father to Tasha, Garcia, Lashawn and Shanice and the greatest grandfather to Breyanna, Michayla, Danier Jr. Mah’Zaia, Alaia and Nylah.
Family was everything to Winston. He was an incredibly kind, loving, generous, hardworking, family centered husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, granduncle, and friend, who took immense pride in being a provider who was supportive and ever present. Winston’s family and friendships encompassed all aspects of his life. From weekly phone call chats to family and friendship outings, to sharing informal and formal meals and entertaining, to helping in times of need and difficulty, Winston was up for it all. He lived life with honor and joy and never took one day for granted.
On December 13, 2024, Winston peacefully passed away, surrounded by his family, in Toronto, Ontario. He leaves behind his wife, four children, six grandchildren, five siblings, nephews, nieces and countless friends.
He has completed his life’s mission and leaves behind a legacy that cannot be quantified, a legacy that lives on in all those whose lives he touched. He is reunited with his parents and three siblings who preceded him, rejoicing in the glory of the almighty Jesus Christ and forever watching over those he loves.
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1
