William Edward Layton
Peacefully on Friday May 13, 2016 at his residence at the Village of Humber Heights in Toronto at the age of 88. Born in Montreal and married for 61 years, Bill leaves behind his beautiful wife, Pam. He will be deeply missed by his children Michael and his wife Betsy, Joanne and her husband Michael, and his FAVOURITE oldest, youngest Canadian, American grandchildren Jennifer, Drew, Lauren, and Alyssa. Bill founded William Layton Audio in Montreal and ran the successful business for many years before retiring and moving to summers in Ontario and winters in Jupiter, Florida. He enjoyed golf and was very good at finding balls that others had lost. He enjoyed life to the fullest with dinner parties, Super Bowl pools, bingo, fine wine (and not so fine). Bill brought smiles to friends and strangers alike, always stopping to chat and show off his family to everyone he met. He was a wonderful husband and father but he really excelled at being a Grampie. He made the best root beer floats so please have one in his honour. As per Dad's wishes, a graveside service will be held at Burlington Memorial Gardens on May 18 at 1 pm. A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, May 30 between 3 and 5 pm at Humber Heights, 2245 Lawrence Avenue West, Toronto. Online condolences and memories may be forwarded to wardfuneralhome.com. If desired, donations to the Montreal Association for the Blind/Mackay Foundation at mabmackay.ca in his honour would be appreciated.
