William Lackner

August 27, 1941 — June 23, 2024

William Lackner

Bill passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife of 60 years, Diane by his side.

He was the son of the late George and Evelyn Lackner and is predeceased by sister Elaine (Jim) Kirkwood. He is survived by siblings Jim (Carolyn) Lackner, Virginia (late Jim Ashton), Jane (Lindsay) Sherriffs and many loved nieces and nephews. Bill was a devoted and much-loved father to his daughter Coral-lee (Jeffrey) Mitton and son William George (Maria) Lackner. He was an adored Papa to Taylor William Robinson, Alexander Robinson, and Rebecca Mitton.

His interests included music and history. He played guitar for a band called the Viscounts in his younger years and could still “rock” in his declining years.

Bill was deeply passionate about cars and spent hours attending car shows and collecting car models. He described them all as his favorite and couldn't pick just one.

A graduate of the University of Toronto, Bill held two degrees, one of which resulted in him achieving the highest final exam mark in Canada and receiving many accolades. An avid sports fan, he followed the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays through the years.

An extremely intelligent and outgoing man, he formed connections through his quick wit and one-liners. Bill leaves behind a lifetime of laughter-filled memories for his family to embrace in this difficult time.

The family would like to thank Dr. Clive Snape and Dr. David Borts for their compassionate care over three decades. A celebration of life is to be held at a later date. The details of this event will be announced as they become available.
