WILLIAM (ZVONKO) KREZNARICH
Born in Zagreb, Croatia in 1932 to parents Antun Krznarić and Zdenka Mataja, Zvonko grew up in Osijek in the Slavonia region of present day Croatia.
At the age of 15, Zvonko left Slavonia to attend the Naval Academy in Bakar (Pomorska Akademija). He then worked for Jugolinija Shiplines, traveling the world and eventually reaching the rank of third officer.
After leaving the former Yugoslavia, Zvonko lived in Australia for 4 years also studying civil engineering in Canberra.
He eventually immigrated with his whole family to Toronto, Canada in 1960. Bill enjoyed a successful career as a civil engineer at the Toronto Transit Commission for 31 years helping build our subway system.
Bill was a creative soul and enjoyed many different types of music, especially Flamenco guitar. His artistic abilities also included drawing and painting. In retirement, at the age of 71, Bill attended the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) where he spent an inspirational year in Florence on an exchange program and graduated with a diploma in drawing and painting in 2008. Among Bill’s other talents included his undisputed mastery of the BBQ where Lauren would patiently wait for the chicken skin. Bill was one to enjoy a good glass of wine, a witty joke and thought provoking conversations.
Bill is survived by his wife Ana Kreznarich. Daughter Dunja Kreznarich and husband Ian Fraser and their children Lauren Ramsay, Adriana Fraser, Alexandra Fraser and Jamie Fraser. His son Robert Kreznarich. His sister Gordana Milosavljević and her son Ratko. Brother John Krznarich and his children Meghan, Riley and Liam. Meghan will remember uncle Bill for making her hot chocolate in the morning and sharing his love of art with her.
