William Duckitt

Passed away peacefully on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto after a sudden illness. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Bill was the adored husband of Rita (died November 2012), loving father to Barbara Duckitt (Stephen Coughlin) and Lesley Martel (Darren Martel) and proud grandfather of Ethan and Ewan Martel and Adam and Liam Coughlin. Bill was dear brother-in-law to Terry Weir, Helen and Colin Masson, and Jean Swift and will be missed by his niece Laura Ellis and nephews Paul, Colin and Neil Masson. Bill was a professional engineer who worked at AVRO and later at Ontario Hydro for 28 years. He will be missed by his many friends. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Ward Funeral Home at 52 Main Street South, Brampton from 2:00 until 4:00 and from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Funeral service to be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 44 Church Street East, Brampton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Sinai Hospital or to the Toronto Children’s Chorus. Gratitude and appreciation for the medical care provided by staff at William Osler Hospital in Brampton (Surgery, Medical and ICU wards) and special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Mt. Sinai ICU for their exceptional care and compassion at such a difficult time.
