William John Mausser, Sr.

We are sad to announce that William John Mausser , our dad, husband, grandfather and friend has passed away this last Monday, December 17, 2024 of natural causes. Born December 13, 1930 to John and Elisabeth (nee Reichenhower) Mausser, our dad lived a wonderful, loving life of 70 years married to our mother, Ena Isabelle, having three children, Joanne Segal (Michael), William Jr. (Linda) and Gregory (another Linda). Please forgive further naming of names at this time. As most of you know, dad loved you all without reservation, and if you didn’t know, well, now you do.

Dad graduated from UBC in Electrical Engineering, moved East for work at Ontario Hydro, further graduated with an MBA in finance and retired early in his fifties to a life of leisure and travel, at all of which he excelled. Active in the church, wine groups, food groups, bridge groups and golfing groups, he was equally adept at socializing or being at home.

A mind with a kind heart is rare in a person; anyone who has played bridge or golf with dad would see both in him. Or you camped with him. Or grocery shopped. Or shared wine with great food. Or quiet time in the garage. Travelling the city according to good burger joints. Watching goofy tv. Never swearing, but almost. Always asking, rarely telling; making you figure it out. Arrgh. Damn. Almost.

We’ll be celebrating our father’s life this coming Monday December 23, 12:00pm at Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road, Toronto. Burial to follow. If you like, donations to The Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. He’d be okay if you didn’t donate this time. Next time would be okay.
