William "Bill" Dykstra
May 8, 1932 - November 10, 2022
On November 10, 2022, at the age of 90, Bill passed away peacefully at Grace Manor, Holland Christian Homes.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Jenny of 68 years and his loving children Louise (Brian); Geri (John); Henry (Sue); Cathy (Martin); Steve (Frances). He was proud Grandpa to 14 grandchildren and Great Grandpa to 19 great grandchildren.
He will be missed by his extended family and his many friends that he has had over the years.
Bill was the eldest of the nine Dykstra boys who immigrated from Holland in June 1949. He married Jenny on June 19, 1954 and they raised five wonderful children. Bill had a variety of job titles over the years - he was a hard worker. He worked in factories; he was a Farmer; TV repair man; Teacher at George Brown College and ultimately retired from the College as the Chairman of Electronics. He then became a consultant focusing on using technology in education. He was always fascinated with any electronic gadget - he had them all! He loved to read a user manual from beginning to end - like it was a good novel. And somehow, on top of all his jobs, he still found time to hold various council positions in the Church and was on the Board of John Knox Christian School for several years.
In January 2000, he and Jenny moved into Holland Christian Homes. They immediately settled in to the retirement life and Bill became the building's go-to person to fix anyone's computer, TV's, or any electronic gadget. He volunteered to become one of the lead Audio Visual technicians at the HCH Church. He loved this job and the people from Holland Christian Homes appreciated all his work to make things run smoothly.
He will be sorely missed by all of us who were lucky enough to know and love him. We look forward to meeting you again in Heaven and our greatest wish is that we will be able to hear your voice and talk with you again!
