It is with great sadness we announce the passing of William “Bill” Austin in his 78th year.
Bill was born, raised and educated in Costa Rica and came to Canada in 1956. He spoke fluent Spanish and would welcome any opportunity to have a conversation with anyone willing and able to speak the language of his childhood.
He was a generous soul for whom the act of kindness was as intrinsic to his existence as breathing. His love of animals was so profound that one often wondered if he cherished his four legged friends more than human beings. All animals gravitated towards Bill as if they had known him for years.
He was a valued and honoured volunteer for countless organizations , including but not limited to the Lions Club .
He was a true gentleman who put everyone’s needs before his own, and worked hard for his family. After 30 years in the Glassmakers Union he retired to enjoy traveling, great vacations and adventures with his forever friends and family.
Bill will be warmly remembered by his wife Margaret to whom he was a devoted and
romantic husband of 50 years, his beloved children Karen, Steven, Gary (predeceased), and Denise, his beautiful granddaughter’s, Kerri, Gillian, Brittnye, and Maddy , and two adored great grandsons Jeremy and Joshua, his brother Tom Austin (predeceased) (Margaret), sister Margaret Jones (Cecil) , and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to nephew David Feliciant and family for their support over the years.
For a guy who could chat your ear off in the grocery store check out , he struggled to find the words to express the big stuff. But anyone who knew Bill understood that his beautiful scrunched up face, beaming smile and eyes glistening with tears, meant there were no words necessary to know how he felt.
A small private family service will be held Saturday September 9th at his home The Village of Humber Heights where he was surrounded by so much love from all of the team members who cared for him each day.
