Wanda Ann Daigle
Wanda Ann (DeMerchant) Daigle was born in Holmesville (Bath) New Brunswick on March 31st 1947 to Patrick M. DeMerchant and Stella R. MacDougall. She attended the local elementary schools in Holmesville and Bath and graduated from the Commercial (Business) program at the Bath Regional High School in 1965.
Wanda joined the staff of Drost’s Grocery Store in Bath as a Bookkeeper/Cashier where she remained until 1967 when she moved to Toronto, Ontario and married the love of her life, John S. Daigle of Miramichi New Brunswick and together they have four children, Catherine, Nancy, Timothy and Joseph. In 1977 they moved to Brampton, Ontario where they raised their family and continue to reside.
After the birth of their first child in 1969 Wanda was a stay-at-home Mom for the next 16 years although she worked at a variety of part -time jobs that enabled her to be at home with her children during their development/formation years. For the next 15 years Wanda worked at a variety of Temporary Jobs that enabled her to be off with the children during their school vacations. In 2000, following a temporary assignment with her husband in Vancouver Wanda accepted a permanent position as the Executive Assistant in the Engineering Department at the Region of Peel where she remained until her retirement in 2014.
Wanda was a very accomplished seamstress and made many of hers and her girls’ clothes during their growing years. She also studied Reflexology at Centennial College and became a qualified and registered Reflexologist.
Wanda was very active in her church community and supported her husband John in his Diaconate Ministry over the years. She participated in and taught the RCIA program at both St. Anne’s Parish and St. Marguerite D’Youville Parish and was an active Lector in both parishes.
Wanda leaves behind to mourn her passing and celebrate her life her husband (of 55 Years) John and her children Catherine Forrester (Graham) of Etobicoke Ontario, Nancy Pacheco (Joe) of Kingston Ontario, Timothy (Lyndsey) of Richmond, BC, and Joseph (Maya) of Port Coquitlam, BC, and eight grandchildren Andrew, Cameron and Lauren Forrester, Xavier, Emily and Gabriel Pacheco and Cypress and Sienna Daigle.
She also leaves behind her siblings, Allan DeMerchant (Sharon), Bath N.B., Rolland DeMerchant (Clara), Andover N.B., and Beverley DeMerchant, Calgary, AB and sisters-in-law Ola DeMerchant, Florenceville N.B and Shirley DeMerchant, Beechwood N.B. as well as several nephews and nieces.
Wanda was predeceased by her parents and her brothers Linwood DeMerchant and Blake DeMerchant.
