With sadness and in celebration, we wish to announce the peaceful passing of Wallace (Wally) Lorne Court at the age of 94, in the comforts of his own home and surrounded by his family.
Wally lived well and left a rich and meaningful legacy. Born in Brantford, Ontario on July 21, 1930, to parents Ernest and Grace, he moved to Toronto in 1950 where he remained for the rest of his life. A York University alumnus, he began work with Massey Harris as a draftsman before embarking on a 40-year storied career in communications and public relations with British American Oil and Gulf Oil. He completed his career journey operating a boutique consulting firm, WL Court INK. He was an award-winning journalist and editor, notably for Gulf’s ‘Commentator’ magazine, and was the only Canadian ever appointed a lifetime fellow of the IABC (International Association of Business Communicators).
Among his many skills and passions, Wally was an elite amateur photographer and has left an abundance and wealth of photographs for generations to enjoy. He was an accomplished writer, author, collector, sportsman, musician and genealogist.
Wally, a follower of Jesus, was a lifelong member of The Salvation Army. As a soldier, he committed his many talents, energies and resources, in servant leadership, to the organization and promotion of programs and music, in particular, focusing on young people within the SA.
His family is truly grateful for his life as his life was all about his family. His wife of 63 years, Evangeline, his sons, David (Della), Stephen (Danielle) and Richard (Lisa), and his grandchildren, Simon, Paige, Zion, Michael, Victoria, Judah, Sarah and Moses, and countless friends and loved ones, will always miss him fondly.
Thank you for joining in honouring and celebrating my husband, our father, our grandfather, our father-in-law and a friend, mentor and inspiration to so many.
Wally was a prayerful supporter of Christian missions at home and abroad. For those who are able, he had suggested gifts in his memory be sent to Medical Missions in Zimbabwe - Dr. Paul Thistle.
