Waldemar (Wally) F. Heggum

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wally Heggum after his second battle with cancer, at the age of 91, on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Amica City Centre (Mississauga).

Wally will be deeply missed and remembered by his extensive family: five children, Terri (Brian), Karen (Darrell), Ted (Betty Ann), Wendy (Bill) and Lisa (Mark); two step-children, Sue and Greg; fifteen grandchildren, Matt, Brad, Jason, Lucas, Nick, Craig, Jacquelyn, Faith, Alexandra, Bryan, Jacob, Ethan, Sam, Lucy and Matthew; nine great-grandchildren, Brayden, Brooke, Nathan, Mabel, Izak, Cyrus, Maya, Rowan, Fionn; and Dorothy Heggum, his first wife and mother of his children.

Wally was born in Toronto in 1933 to parents Waldemar and Margaret Heggum. He was the older brother to Ricky and Ted.

He graduated from York Memorial High School in 1952 and went on to have a successful career in accounting, beginning at Kodak Canada in Weston and ending with running his own tax and accounting business.

Wally loved all sports and enjoyed playing basketball and golf and watching hockey and baseball. He was a skilled curler and won back-to-back Canada Life championships. He also became an avid boater.

Wally was predeceased by his second wife, Carol (2019), who he married in 1984. They lived in Mississauga until 2006, when they moved to New Hamburg for a quieter life.
