In loving memory
It is with deepest sadness that Vitori Poshnjari passed away on November 2nd, 2024, at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her daughters, Manuela (Dritan), Rina (Alfred), and Xhilda (Ilir); her siblings, Ksenofon, Marianthi and Vasilika; her grandchildren, Deniel, Enji (Jennifer), Esti, Mikela, and Alba; and her great-grandson Giannis. Vitori was born on September 3rd, 1944 in Libohova, Albania. She lived a life full of love and compassion, touching the lives of everyone who knew her. A dedicated mother and wife, Vitori prioritized family above all, instilling values of kindness, resilience, and togetherness in her children and grandchildren. Her love knew no bounds, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Vitori graduated from the Tirana Insitute of Pedagogy as a teacher of Albanian Language and Literature. In her 25-year of teaching career at “J. de Rada”, she taught generations of students who moved far and wide outside Albania. Today, five decades later, her students still remember “Teacher Vito” with fondness and respect. She continued her passion for teaching after leaving Albania. She was the first teacher at Akademia Mësimore “Gjuha Jonë” in Chicago, USA, and instrumental in the introduction of the new “ABC” book for North-American children born to Albanian parents. For the last 24 years, Vitori was an active member of the Albanian Canadian Community. Her steadfast presence in both personal and community events will be missed. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and friendship that will be remembered fondly and warmly by those who knew her. May her soul rest in peace, and may her spirit continue to inspire us. Visitations will be held on Wednesday, November 6th, 4pm-8pm, at the Ward Funeral Homes located at 2035 Weston Rd, Toronto, ON M9N1X7. The Funeral service will take place on Thursday, 10am, at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, located at 1 Brookhaven Dr., North York, ON, M6M 4N6. Following the church liturgy, Vitori will be laid to rest in Beechwood Cemetery located at 7241 Jane Street, Concord, ON L4K1A7. A memorial reception will be held thereafter at Paradise Banquet Halls located at 7601 Jane Street, Vaughan, ON L4K 1X2.
