With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Virginia Cantarutti (nee Biondo) on February 29, 2024 at the age of 92. She is now reunited with her husband Pietro (January 1976) and her daughter Diana (September 2012).
Loving mother of Diana (predeceased), Rosanna (John) and Mauro (Elaine). Proud Nonna of Peter, Sean, Claudia and Lucia. Sister to Pietro Biondo, predeceased (Antonia) and Berto Biondo (Pina).
Virginia faced many life challenges from a very young age but was always strong enough to overcome them and lead a very long and happy life with her family around her. Virginia dedicated almost 50 years to the Church and Community and was one of the founding members of the Over 50 Club at St. Bernard Church. As many of you know, Virginia loved to sew, do crafts and garden in her huge garden at her home to grow the many, many vegetables that she also loved to eat. Her other passion was going for walks, she continued her daily walks until she could walk no more.
The family would like to extend extreme gratitude to the PSW’s and staff at WestPark Long Term Care. Her end came quickly but they made sure she was well taken care of until her last breath and then the most beautiful honor guard escort for her exit from WestPark LTC. You are all true angels on earth, and we appreciate you.
Visitation will be held at Ward Funeral Home (Weston Chapel) on Thursday March 7 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. Funeral Services will be held at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church (1789 Lawrence Avenue West) on Friday March 8 at 10:00am. Virginia will be laid to rest with her husband Pietro at Holy Cross Cemetery 8361 Yonge St, Thornhill, ON immediately following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation to WestPark in Memory of Virginia Cantarutti and allocate the funds to Long Term Care facility as they could always use the funds for more equipment and staff to help make everyone’s lives easier.
