Violet May Irons (Lawson)
Violet passed peacefully at West Park Long Term Care Centre on September 3, 2023 in her 100th year.
Violet was born on May 14, 1923 in Toronto to the late Harry and Mable Lawson. She lived her entire life in Toronto working at an early age in her father’s grocery store. She married her husband upon his return from World War II. She was the beloved wife of Robert Irons (1979). Violet was the cherished mother of Robbie Irons (late Marilyn) and Harry (deceased 1969). Violet was the very proud grandmother of Kevin (Chris) Irons and Danielle (Josh) Eme. She also had four great grandchildren—Nolan and Carter Irons and Oliver and Alexandra Eme.
Violet loved playing cards, cribbage, and was quite accomplished at painting. Several of her paintings adorned her apartment. She was a big sports fan, following all the Toronto teams; but had a special love for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
It was very appropriate that Violet celebrated her 100th birthday on Mother’s Day of 2023. She was treated to cake, surrounded by her family and friends.
Violet’s family would like to pay a special acknowledgement to her nephew and his wife, Donny and Kim Irons. Donny and Kim were very close to Violet and were a tremendous help to the family in her later years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ALS Society of Canada or the charity of the donor’s choice.
