De Giorgis, Vincenzo "Jimmy"

Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 14, 2018 at the age of 90. Son of the late Giannina Mucciconi and Pierino De Giorgis. Beloved husband of 64 years to his beautiful and loving wife Maria (Sforza). Loving father to Piero (Mary McCaffrey), Enrico (Ivana Di Stefano), Paolo (Angela Pizzimenti), Rosalia (Luigi Fazzari). Proud Nonno to Stefania (Alex Guaiani), Vanessa, Victoria, Michael, Bianca, Vincent, Giannina, Maya, Christian and Bisnonno to Sebastian. Cherished brother of Delia (Loreto), Ugo (Giovanna), Irma (Battista), Mary (Vincenzo), Predeceased by his brother Manfredo (Zelia).

Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Born and raised in Tottea, Abruzzo, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1950 at the age of 22. Jimmy was the Patriarch of the entire De Giorgis Family. He worked extremely hard, dedicated his life to make sure that his parents, wife, children, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and their families would have a better life - and that he accomplished. Many thanks to the De Giorgis/Zaffuto families in Pennsylvania and the Basili family for first, working to get Jimmy into Canada. The Basili family for welcoming Jimmy into their home when he came from Italy giving him his first job. The rest is history and Jimmy became one of (if not the best) cabinet maker in Toronto. Jimmy invented the phrase "measure twice - sometimes multiple times - and cut once". His great work stands alone and withstands the test of time to this day.


The Patriarch will be missed.
