We are saddened to announce the passing of Vince Martino on Thursday February 15, 2024. Vince passed surrounded by his loved ones and is now with His Lord. He was married to Emillia Martino, (maiden name DeMaio) in 1960 in Toronto up until his death. He is welcomed into heaven by his brother Jack, sister Marie, his father Frank Martino, his mother Clemintine, his son Frank, and his oldest grandchild Vincent. His children Frank (deceased) Clarette, Jack, Janice, (Jacks wife), and Phyllis will hold dad in their hearts forever. His grandchildren Vincent, (deceased), Andrew and Amanda will miss their Pappa and will enjoy a lifetime of wonderful memories from the Westmount house and the many family times shared together.
Vince started his working years as a talented auto mechanic working at British American Motors. In 1955 Vince and his brother Jack opened a Texaco Gas and Service franchise. Within a few years they quickly outgrew this space and purchased several properties to establish Martino Brothers Collision. It was at this time Vince quickly realized his uncanny ability to build business relationships and how to service customers to a level that surpasses all standards. Vince was not selfish with his knowledge of this industry. He is responsible for many careers of individuals that would reachout to him for advice and encouragement to try to do what he accomplished. He created a workplace for over 1000 technicians, managers and appraisers during his working years. He always supported personal growth and he was always pleased that he could help in any way to further their career.
Vince didn't just run a successful collision shop, he also sold and serviced equipment related to his industry, (frame repair machines, paint spray booths, plastic welders, plasma cutters and welding equipment). Many of his products found themselves in body shops around the country, the USA, and Europe.
Vince was very proud to be a consultant to the Toronto Board of Education from 1975-1995. He helped create body shop programs in many Toronto high schools. Much of his influence is still in practice today.
In 1980 Vince and his brother opened a coin operated car-wash, (Coin-Op Carwash) This was one of the first of its kind in Canada. Like everything he does, he put his mechanical expertise and 100% passion into this project and it was a resounding success.
It's hard to believe that being so busy and involved in the many business endeavors that he had any time for hobbies. Vince displayed the same level of energy for fishing, hunting, golf, tennis, swimming, coaching and managing minor hockey, wine making, esteemed member of The Knights of Columbus, a loyal and involved parishioner of All Saints Church.
His family was most important to him. He would tell his children to make sure that they were always there for each other and their mother. This wasn't a suggestion. It was repeated every time the family was together. His relationship with his wife Emilia was like a story book romance. The love and affection they shared every day for 63 years is the greatest example of how marriage should and can be.
His faith in the Lord was so strong and evident in everything he did. He was a true believer and took great comfort knowing that God was watching over him all the way to the end. This was also displayed with his many years of involvement with the Knights of Columbus. He helped accomplish so much with the Knights and served as the Faithful Navigator for several years.
Vince will be missed by friends still here on earth, and re-united with many dear friends that have passed. He was so generous and kind with all of those close enough to be in his inner circle. He was always so thoughtful and encouraging to everyone he cared for.
