Victorio Dolores Costes

On May 21st, 1942 Victorio Dolores Costes is born to Petra Dolores and Vicente Costes in the Philippines. He was the younger brother to Mrs Purita Sampaga, Donato Costes the 2nd and Mrs Aurora Nickoloff.

His love for music started at age 6 with impromptu piano lessons in friends’ houses. He grew up in Asingan, Pangasinan where he met his best friends Rudy Dumapias, a diplomat and published author, and Ernesto DeLeon, a Canadian physician. He graduated from Adamson College with a Degree in Journalism. While teaching at Divine Word College he fell in love with Miguelita Hufana, his future wife. He wrote articles, was the editor-in-chief and illustrator for the newsletter of his College’s Department of Forestry. He immigrated to Canada with his wife and two children, Oliver and Michelle, and his last daughter Bernadette was born a Canadian citizen.

He was a lifelong devoted Catholic and formed a women's choir in the Philippines and a men's choir and children's choir at St. John the Evangelist Catholic church where he had been the long time organist. He left an indelible impression on the people who loved him. He died comfortably on September 23rd, 2024 through the grace and kindness of the Dorothy Ley Hospice, surrounded by his family. He is missed by his children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors, but especially his loving wife, Mrs. Miguelita Hufana Costes. From the Nara Tree to the Maple Leaf, your journey is now complete. Rest in Peace.
