Veronika Wurz in her 80th year, peacefully passed away in the early morning of November 23rd 2016 with her family by her side.
Veronika was a trained Hairdresser, but her love was her retail career selling children’s shoes at the Hudson’s Bay Toronto flagship store for 18 years.
Veronika was fiercely independent in spirit and her adventurous nature found her traveling to different countries in her youth. At the age of 21 she arrived alone in Toronto for a vacation and decided to stay. Here she met her late husband of 50 years, Siegfried, and built a life.
Veronika was a very strong minded woman ahead of her time. Her determination that nothing is impossible is just one of the many valuable lessons she passed along to her daughters. Veronika was always happy to provide guidance to all she knew. Often counselling them to always strive for better. She endeared herself to many through her straight forward nature.
In later years Veronika lost her physical independence to Multiple Sclerosis. This was especially difficult for a woman who in her early years walked everywhere and took great joy in her garden. She managed the disease with incredible dignity.
Veronika will be incredibly missed by her daughter Charlotte and her husband Otto Costanzo and their children Monika and Jakob; her daughter Liz and her husband John Barnes and their children, Tori, Lauren, Kirsten and Samantha. She is survived by her sister Brünhilde Knüth, and her brothers Volkmar and Reinhard Esser.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at The Village of Humber Heights LTC for their care and respect for Veronika.
