Veronica “Vona” Barnes, 83, of Bramalea, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home after a short illness, on Monday August 2, 2021. She was born on April 18, 1938, in Dumbarton, Scotland, daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah (McDonagh) Graham. She immigrated to Canada in 1960, and on November 9, 1963, she married the love of her life, Robert Barnes in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She lived in Toronto, Detroit, Michigan, New York City where her 3 children (Robert, Kenneth, and Karen) were born. Robert and Vona moved back to Canada in 1971 and eventually settled in Bramalea in 1976 which she called home until she was called to heaven. She worked in an office in the healthcare field, but her most fulfilling job and what she was amazing at was simply being “MOM”!

She will always be loved and will be missed by her children Kenneth Barnes of North Carolina, and Karen (Rob) Milenkovic of Bramalea; her grandchildren Kyra Barnes, Sarah and Skylar Milenkovic and her nephews Harry Cuthill, Tyrone (Maureen) Cuthill, and Thomas (Kathleen) Cuthill. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert on July 11, 2005; her son Robert on May 16, 1966; and her brothers and sisters, Thomas, Patrick, Margaret, Allie, Sheila, and Roseleen.

Family and Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home "Brampton Chapel" on Monday August 16 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday August 17 at 11:00 at St. John Fisher Parish in Brampton.
