Umberto Ruffolo

RUFFOLO, Umberto - Passed away peacefully at Humber River Regional Hospital in the afternoon of December 19, 2010 in his 90th year. Umberto was the beloved husband of his adoring wife Maria Grazia and devoted father of Mario and his wife Rita DeMontis. He will be greatly missed by a host of many relatives and extended family. Umberto was born in Rende, Calabria and made his way to Canada via Argentina in the 1950s. He worked for the City of York for many years before retiring to enjoy a life that included his family and his beautiful gardens. Respected and loved by many, Umberto was also known for his quiet dignity, his kindness and gentle sense of humour. No one ever left his garden without a basket of goods, including his beloved tomatoes and a full heart. Friends may call at the Ward Funeral Home on 2035 Weston Rd., (north of Lawrence Ave.), Weston, on Wednesday, December 22nd from 5-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Clare's Church, 133 Westmount Ave., Toronto, on Thursday, December 23rd at 10 a.m . Entombment to follow at Prospect Cemetery. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the outstanding care and compassion Umberto received from his incredible nurses and doctors during his stay at Humber River Hospital, Church St. location.
