Umberto Mastromattei

Umberto Mastromattei, 88, a long-time resident of Vaughan died peacefully at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital on Sunday April 26, 2020.
Born on March 12, 1932 in Province of Frosinone, Italy, Umberto moved to Canada in 1959. His wife would join him a year later in 1960 with their first child Lucy. The couple welcomed their second child Angela in March 1965.
Shortly after arriving in Canada, Umberto worked as a fence contractor for Frost Fence for a number of years before launching his own fencing company Erie Fence; he would end his career working in the Parks Dept for the City of Vaughan.
Mr. Mastromattei had a zest for life and was passionate in his views of current events that transpired around him throughout his life. He played bocce with friends and took pride in teaching his grandchildren the game he loved playing. He enjoyed playing cards, a passion he also shared with his grandchildren.
Umberto is survived by his wife Vincenza, his children Lucy (Jack Buscemi) and Angela (Adriano Biasini), his grandchildren Michelle, Marco, Nicholas, Alexander, and his great grandchildren Nico, Mea, and Lio.
