It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Umberto Andreis on November 9th, 2022. Umberto was born to Tullio and Mafalda Andreis on September 28th, 1937 in Rome, Italy. Married 57 years to his beloved wife Monique. Cherished father of Tullio (Tracey) and Patrizia. Devoted grandfather of Monique-Rose, Marcel, Francis, Atia, and Isla.

As the son of First Secretary to the Vatican of the Holy See, Umberto, along with his brother, Marcelo, had the privilege of being an altar boy to Pope Paul the 6th. During this time, Umberto followed all tasks he was given while adding in some mischievous fun of his own. Umberto and his brother would partake in prankish activity such as moving parked delivery vans out of sight to confuse the drivers as well as spooking tourists in the catacombs by blowing out their candles which were their only sources of light.

Nothing brought him more joy than traveling the world with his treasured wife, Monique, who he had met in Canada after immigrating here in 1954. Umberto’s drive and hard work eventually led him to start his own business and in 1964, Hall & Andreis Insurance Brokers Ltd was opened. Umberto then joined his son Tullio and daughter Patrizia to create Andreis insurance Brokers in 2011 and continued to do what he loved most. He reveled in telling stories about his travels and people he met along the way. His clients became his friends and to some a father figure; he was generous, thoughtful, and one of a kind.

Umberto is well known in the Italian community and will be missed dearly. He will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved him.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge) on both Saturday, November 12th and Sunday, November 13th from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 9:00pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Padre Pio Catholic Church (5500 Major Mackenzie Drive West, Kleinburg) on Monday, November 14th at 9:30am
