Darcie, Thomas Alphonso Somers
October 12, 1930 – May 23, 2010
It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas "Tom" Darcie announces his passing. At home, surrounded by his family, he succumbed to cancer on May 23, 2010. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Myrtle, sons Gerald (Ann) Darcie, Thomas "Ted" (Janet) Darcie and Curtis (Liz) Ballantyne, and his grandchildren Todd, Adam, Corinna, Aaron and Yana. He will also be missed by his brother Lou, sisters-in-law Ollie, Doris, Muriel, Stella and Patsy, brother-in-law Hugh, and cousins Norma, Cyril and Laura Bean, and Peggy Horton. Tom touched the lives of many people as a professional teacher/trainer and as a well known singer, both on the stage and as a life long choir member. He worked for many years in the Training Department at Nortel, and also as a boating safety and piloting instructor with the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron. He shared his love of music with others at every opportunity, and was known for his calm warmth and dignity. Family and Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home "Brampton Chapel", 52 Main Street South (Hwy 10), Brampton on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 11:00am in St. Paul’s United Church, 30 Main Street South (Hwy 10). Cremation to follow.
