It is with great sadness that the Banga family shares the passing of their mother Theresia Banga (Fischer).
Theresia was the mother of France, Emmerich (Ellen), Margaret, Fred and Peter (Sheri). Grandmother of Stuart, Heather, Rebecca, Andrew, Peter, Genestah, and Eddissun.
Theresia Fischer grew up on a farm in Austria during WW2. Working hard in the fields, she enjoyed tending to the animals. She married her husband Emmerich Banga in 1956 & journeyed to Canada in April 1957 on the Arosa Star arriving in Quebec City to begin their new life. She and Emmerich raised their children in Weston, Ontario.
Theresia was a women of strong faith, a devout Catholic and community parishioner of St Jude's Catholic Church, where she expressed her love of music by singing in the choir.
Her hobbies included sewing, singing, playing accordion, cooking, pet birds, picnics, and burning the occasional dinner while watching soap operas.
Theresia was a strong woman with a fighting spirit, surviving many health issues over her 98 years of life.
She is remember for preserving her Germanic culture through cuisine - especially by making Apple Strudel, Rouladin, Schnitzel and Hungarian Beef Goulash, but was also known for making a mean Pizza and Chili!
Theresia passed away early in the morning on February 12, 2022 – just hours after reaching her 98th birthday.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Banga family as they grieve the loss of their matriarch.
Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
