It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Theresa Cecelia Gillis . Theresa was born in North Sydney, Nova Scotia to Robert and Emma Gouthro, in a home full of love, together with 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
In 1963, Theresa met the love of her life, Thomas and they married in 1965 . They moved to Toronto and started a family with the adoption of their first son, David in 1966 and the adoption of their second son, Robert in 1969.
Theresa was a homemaker, who also worked a full time job, where she developed a number of wonderful friendships with the "girls from work". They would often go out for dinners and special day trips . She treasured the friendships that she had with the women who lived at the Trethewey Drive Co-op.
Theresa loved following the Toronto Blue Jays and would often go to games at the old Exhibition Stadium and later the SkyDome . She was over the moon when the Jays won the World Series in 1992 and 1993. But more than this, she loved to go "down home" to Nova Scotia to visit her brothers, sisters and in-laws.
Theresa is survived by her husband Thomas, her sons David (Nancy) and Robert, her 3 grandchildren Tanya, Travis and Tori, 2 great grandchildren, her sister Sr. Marcella Gouthro, her in-laws and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her father and mother, brothers Frank and Michael (Bet), her sisters Jenny, Hilda (Mickey) and Lonie (Kevin) and by her in-laws Gordon, Dorothy, Chuck, Fay, Walter and Beverly, with whom she had a special friendship.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Hospital for Sick Children.
