Thelma Watts
July 17, 1944 - May 19, 2017

It is with great sadness that we said goodbye to Thelma on May 19th after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 72. Daughter of Thomas Victor Watts and Muriel Constance Watts (nee Backler), Thelma leaves behind her brothers, Tyrone (Anne) and Charles, sisters Marlene and Brenda (Dwight), her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as her very special friend Mike and her sweet dog Abby.

Thelma's zest for life, her kind and positive spirit and her warm nature meant that she also had the largest group of wonderful friends around her at all times from all walks of life. She had many passions including photography, a love of the great outdoors, was president of the Luggage and Leather Goods Association and an active member with them for many years. She loved literature and art, but her biggest passion was skiing. Thelma leaves behind an enormous ski community including the North Toronto Ski Club, the CSIA and Craigleith Ski Club where she lived for her winters there as a ski instructor.

Thelma's life will be celebrated on Sunday, May 28th. Visitation will take place at Ward Funeral Home from 1pm to 3pm, 2035 Weston Road in Toronto. Following the visitation there will be a Celebration of Life reception from 3pm to 6pm at Weston Golf and Country Club, 50 St Phillips Road. If anyone has a happy, funny story about Thelma they would like to share there will be an opportunity to do that at the reception.

A special thank you to Dr Terry Kwan and the incredible staff at Trillium Mississauga hospital for the unrelenting care and support they provided Thelma.

In lieu of flowers we ask donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
