Terrence “Terry” was born on December 2, 1952, in Weston, Ontario to Orvil Thomas John Long and Charlotte Mary Long (nee Wright). He was raised in the family’s home on Riverlea Drive with his older brother Thomas (Shirley) and younger sister Susan.
He met and married his beloved high school sweetheart Ruth Field and together they raised three incredible children, Ryan (Angela), Aaron (Krystle) and Meaghan (Chris) Bucci in his hometown of Weston.
Terry and Ruth enjoyed many happy milestones throughout their 49 years of marriage, but few more monumental than the addition of their seven grandchildren - Quinn, Piper, Beckett, Cohen, Elliot, Norah, and Wells.
Terry was a devoted grandfather who loved being involved in their lives. From supporting them in school and sports, to spending summers with them at the family cottage on Balsam Lake, to spoiling them at Christmas (a holiday that meant a lot to Terry).
Those who knew him well, could attest to his love of all things Christmas. From the shopping that started in late summer, to listening to Christmas music as of November 1, to his annual Christmas party which became an event no one wanted to miss.
Their King Street home would be packed with family and friends all gathered to enjoy the feast Terry had prepared. To share stories, sing songs, and fill their home with love and laughter.
Terry was an active member of Central United Church, from his time in the Chancellors to working on the management committee, to his final role as Sexton.
A memorial service to honour Terry’s life and legacy will be held at Central United Church on Saturday, January 27th at 1:00 p.m. with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to
The Kidney Foundation of Canada or Central United Church in Terry’s name.
