Teresa Simonetta

After a brief illness, Teresa passed away peacefully at the Mackenzie Health Centre. She had lived a full life, devoted to her family and she has now joined her beloved and sorely missed husband Michele. She will be greatly missed by her children and their spouses, Mary Ann (Bill), Bruna (Terry) and Michael (Lucia), her grandchildren, Steven (Jolly), Lisa (Bill), Vanessa (Troy), Danny (Ruby), Derek (Michelle), Michael Jr., Annalisa and her great grandchildren, Hudson and Stella. She is survived also by her family, Cosimo (Bruna), Fiore (Franca), (Rosarina) and Michele as well as the surviving family of her husband - Ralph (Rosa), Joe (Bruna), (Gina), Sam (Emma), Victor (Ann Marie), Tino (Giovanna) as well as many nephews and nieces and their families. She will be reunited with her family and her husband's family who have predeceased her; Giuseppe (Grazia‎), Vincenzo (Stella), Angelo (Angelina), Nazareno (Rosarina's husband), Assunta (Michele's wife), Angelo (Gina's husband) and Assuntina.

Coming to Canada in 1953, from her hometown of Serra San Bruno in Calabria, Italy to join her husband who had left a couple of years earlier to launch a new life that offered opportunities as well as many challenges. She focused on being there for her children, husband and extended family as they arrived in Canada. She found her happiness when she knew that those she loved received the benefits of her fierce protectiveness and of course, were well fed and happy. As her family, we were nurtured by her never wavering care and love. We felt her devotion and returned her love the best we could. Her legacy lives on in us as we give to our families what she taught us to give. She will always be in our hearts and minds. We will miss her but take comfort in the knowledge that she is with our Dad and that they are together again.
