“I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way”
PepsiCo lost several points on the stock exchange with the passing of one of its most loyal and biggest customers, Sylvia Maude Connor (Sibby) after a short illness on Oct 27 at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, ON.
Her family was the most important thing to her. She is survived by four sisters, Patricia Lockie of Kitchener, Gloria Schinkel, Jill Lawson and Vickie Kinch of Brampton and brother Gomer of Eugenia. Sylvia was predeceased by mother Anne, twin brother Sam and brother Lionel. Although she never had kids of her own, she had many children through those siblings, Anne Marie, Wendy, Lori, Steven, Annie, Katie, Jenny, David, Jenette, Nicholas, Jill and Kristie and their children Matthew, Justin, Jessie, Noah, Jordan, Griffin, Lucas, Connor, Sydney, Zachery, Gabriel, Austin, Delaney, Ben and Charlotte. Her second family was her friends and they were many. They were invaluable to Sylvia throughout her illness and most certainly her whole life. Too many to mention, but thanks to Sunny and Boyd and Eva and Brian for all they have done.
Born on September 13,1950, in Brampton, ON, Sylvia started her career with London Life Group Insurance in 1970 and spent 21 years there before moving on to Kitchener, ON to join McLeod Benefits and then PPI Management before deciding to open her own very successful group insurance consulting company Milestone Benefits.
She was well known for always having four of everything and for being one of the kindest and most generous and thoughtful people. She was always more than happy to share. If Sylvia had it and you needed it, it was yours.
A lover of a deal an avid reader and a collector of hobbies, it has been suggested that you didn’t want to sit still too long at her home or you ran the risk of being tiled over or spray painted. But her greatest labour of love was her gardens in her winter home in Arizona as well as her home in Kitchener. There is nary an inch of her property that isn’t beautifully landscaped and heavily decorated with glittery globes, and anything solar.
Friends and family will be remembering Sibby fondly at the Ward Funeral Home 52 Main Street South Brampton, on Friday Nov 1, from 2-4, and 7-9 pm, with a funeral service following Saturday Nov 2 at 2:30. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Salvation Army or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Refreshments will follow at St Paul’s United Church directly after.
