It’s with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our loving father, Spiro Trenton in the early morning of Monday, April 4, 2022 at the age of 90. He was a devoted husband to the late Anastasia ‘Tassy’ Trenton. Proud father of George (Kathy), Nick (Heather), Rebecca (Mitch) and Lori (Tony). The family grew with love and Spiro became a cherished & proud Grandfather of Elizabeth (Jeremy), Vanessa (Mike), Jason, Nikki (Luke), Jeffrey, Tiffany and Noah. Loving Great Grandfather of Logan, Jacob and Sydney.
Spiro will be sadly missed by Virginia, Joann and Frank. He will be forever remembered by his sister Fannie (pre-deceased by Paul Tarkalas) brothers Antonios (Maria) and Chris (Ethel) and fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was born in the village of Antartiko, Greece on August 5, 1931 to Pantelis and Sotira Trenton. In his younger days after escaping the civil war, he journeyed to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1950 with the help of his late uncle Norm. Spiro partnered with his Uncles owned and worked in Norms Coffee Shop. Once they sold this business Spiro along with his wife Tassy opened and ran a successful restaurant in the King St. West area and called it Bill’s Coffee Shop. Bill was his nickname for years.
Spiro was a simple, gentle and kind soul who enjoyed the company of his family and friends. Loved and respected by all that knew him. In the early days he loved spending time with his brothers, cousins and friends playing card games, watching all kinds of sports especially hockey and football. Playing games with his kids and spending his free time in the summer after work barbecuing and in their pool.
The family wishes to send a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Schlegel Villages, Erin Meadows & Humber Heights who provided compassionate care to our dad, Spiro.
