After a courageous month long battle with Covid-19, this devastating virus took our dear Wife, Mother, Baba, Sister, Aunt & Friend on January 1st 2021.
Dearly loved wife of Louis for 57 years, devoted Mother to Michael (Cathlyn) & Steven. Adored Baba to Alexander, Allyson & Richard who she loved so dearly. Dear Sister in law to Tommy, Dinka, Vaska & the late Johnny. Dear "Aunt Sonja" to Ruth, Pirjo, Nancy, Clinton, Kalle, Kamren, Bill, Kathy, Susan, Linda, Denis & their families. Family was everything to Mom & we will cherish the good times & hold tight to the wonderful memories we have all shared together throughout the many years. We take comfort in knowing she is not suffering anymore & is she now reunited with her beloved Sister Salme, as they are at peace together.
Mom Immigrated to Canada when she was 22 from Savonlinna, Finland with her dear Sister Salme. Toronto became home to Mom, where she met the love of her life Louis. Mom had a passion for art and beauty, pursuing a career in cosmetology for many years. Mom always dressed up, no matter the occasion and lived for her family. In her spare time, Mom loved to cook, knit, play cards, garden, practice yoga, Tai Chi and spent countless years with her beloved friends at the Lion's Club in Toronto. Mom took great pride in her strong Finnish roots and was someone whose presence was immediately felt when entering a room. Throughout the years, Mom loved travelling to Finland to visit her ten siblings, visiting her eleventh sibling Salme, nieces Pirjo (Kevin) and Nancy (Kari) & family in Florida, as well as Kentucky where she felt so much peace as she loved nature, animals and the farm with her niece Ruth and her husband Olli. Mom was greatly involved in her grandchildren's lives and loved to catch up with all loved ones for hours on the phone.
Thank you to Humber River Hospital for your endless support, compassion & care shown to Mom during this extremely difficult time. You are all angels to us!
Mom you are forever loved, forever in our hearts and you will always be with us.
