Sofie Benkoe

Born August 10, 1933 in Oberwart, Austria and died peacefully on June 30, 2021 reuniting with her beloved husband Michael. Loving mother to Gerlinde (Claudio) Balbinot and Michael (Joanne) Benkoe. Treasured Oma to Leeana, David, Alexander and Monika. She will be fondly remembered by friends and extended family in Canada and Austria.

Sofie was a hardworking resilient woman who loved her family very much and enjoyed sharing words of wisdom with her grandchildren. Memories of her teachings will last in our hearts forever. Her hands were always busy knitting, crocheting, embroidering, needlepointing or sewing. We will cherish these beautiful pieces she created with her loving hands. She will be profoundly missed.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff and nursing unit at Scarlett Heights Retirement Residence for their kindness and compassion during these past two and half years.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ontario Lung Association or the Arthritis Society.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home "Weston Chapel", 2035 Weston Road, Toronto, on Tuesday, July 6th from 4-8pm. Please RSVP to attend.
