Teresa (Sisa) Betrò née Mercurio, surrendered her spirit in her beautiful home surrounded by her loving daughters (Marianna, Raffaela and Rita) singing church hymns and prayers on Saturday, February 26, 2022.
Sisa was born in Petrizzi, Italy on May 31, 1936. She emigrated to Canada and married Saverio Betrò in 1958. They were blessed with a marriage that lasted 62 years, before he passed.
From a young age, she was a devout Catholic. As an active member of All Saints’ Parish Community, she volunteered for many events that brought the community together and allowed her to share her faith. Sisa especially loved helping with the children, being part of the sacramental preparation and youth groups. Even during the pandemic and her illness, she continued to warmly greet the children, redirect them and sanitize their hands.
Sisa was full of life and known for giving a helping hand to raise other peoples’ children, reciting pages of poems or riddles from memory, cooking many memorable and delicious celebratory dinners and having a green thumb for growing anything. Sisa was very intelligent, always gracious and impeccably dressed.
Sisa will always be loved by so many for her big heart, generous spirit, and tell-it-like-it-is humour. May her love live on through those whose lives she touched.
As per her wishes, there is no visitation.
