Shirley May Johnston

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley May Johnston (nee Gray) on Sunday, April 15, 2018 in her 90th year. Shirley is now reunited with her late husband Grant (2009).

Beloved mother to Stephen (Laura), Deborah Baker (David) and Jeanette Waud (Peter). Cherished Nanny to Jennifer (Jeff), Lorraine (Greg), Ryan (Lindsey), Jeremy (Megan) and Grant (Kathy). Doting Great Nan to Isabel, Eric, Mabel, Simon, Myles and Jake. Sister-in-law to Merle Clarke.

Shirley loved to travel and enjoyed peaceful time in her garden but she was most happy when she was surrounded by her family. Last summer Shirley was an enthusiastic participant in the Canada 150th celebration party held at the Johnston family schoolhouse. Faithful member of Riverside - Emery United Church for 65 years and Humbervale United Church. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her extended family and friends.

Special appreciation is extended to the staff at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for their compassionate and attentive care. In lieu of flowers, donations to Sunnybrook Hospital would be appreciated.

Family and friends will be received at Ward Funeral Home (2035 Weston Road) on Friday, April 27 from 2-4 & 6-9 pm. A memorial service of remembrance will take place in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
