DEC. 16, 1917 – JUL. 28, 2015
Formerly of Montreal, Selina (Jennie as she was known) passed away peacefully at Post Inn Village, Oakville, Ontario in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late Herbert Kelly (1982) and cherished mother to Myrna Morgan (George), Brian Kelly (Aspa) and Gary Kelly (Dianne). Devoted Nannie to Stephen, Wayne, Katherine, Andrea, Christopher, Allison, Michael and Scott, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Sister to Connie Horbas, the late Violet Donaldson and the late Frederick Clarke.
Jennie grew up in Montreal, where she met Herb and married in 1947. Within a couple of years she would choose to stay at home and raise their children. As the children grew and started their own families, she provided great support helping to raise all the grandchildren for which we will always be grateful. She was indeed the glue that held the family together, providing advice and help whenever it was needed. In retirement, Jennie and Herb spent time wintering in Florida as well as visiting with family members. After Herb’s passing, she continued her travels with family and friends to such places as Hawaii, Greece and England. Jennie was at her happiest during family celebrations, whether it be the holidays, birthdays or family weddings. Our Mother was a grand lady, strong in her faith and devoted to her family. She will be greatly missed and forever loved by all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be held at Ward Funeral Home (Oakville Chapel), 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville, on Friday, August 7th at 1 p.m. Private interment will follow in Montreal.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
