Sara Sandra Chaupiz – December 12, 1966 – March 31, 2015
Sara Sandra Chaupiz was born December 12, 1966 in Lima, Peru. As a family, we arrived in Canada in February 1975.
Sara attended Montrose Public School from 1975-1979. In 1979, she attended Adventist Crawford Academy until 1984. She went on to attend Centennial Public High School for her last school year. Sara then went on to attend Sheridan College to study Business Administration / Legal Secretary.
In 1990, she started to work for the company LawPro Lawyers’ Professional Indemnity Company where she eventually became a unit leader. She worked here for 25 years.
Faith was an important part of our family life. She was baptized on July 21, 1979 and was a member of the Toronto Spanish Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She held several positions in the church from being a church secretary, a deaconess and several other positions. Sara loved to sing and became part of the church choir. Over the year, Sara made lifelong friendships. These friendships inspired and touched her throughout her life.
Sara was very fortunate to meet the love of her life, Neil Walters, where she enjoyed trips to the cottage, Florida, Costa Rica and other parts of the world. She tried new things with Neil that she never experienced before. One of the best things that made Sara very happy was that she acquired a second family in meeting Neil. She was loved very much by Neil’s brothers and their wives. She would tell us what she did or where she went with them all the time and it always came with a smile and glow on her face.
She was a good daughter, sister, friend and wife. She loved dogs and growing up, she was never allowed to have any dogs in her mother’s home. Sara was very fond of Merlin and Rudy. When she came to visit her Mother’s home, she would always arrive in time for dinner, because she loved and missed her mother’s cooking. Sara and her mother greeted each other with a special handshake and enjoyed watching and laughing at TV shows together.
During her battle with cancer, she strived to beat it and would not let the disease consume her with anger. Instead, she fought hard and showed us how to have everlasting faith and love even more than we thought possible. Throughout this challenge, people have told us that she was a fighter and how they learned many inspirational things from our dear Sara. Without even trying, Sara taught lessons on love for their lives and provided spiritual guidance to those who met her throughout her treatment. As part of her managing the disease, she met with other women who are still battling this disease and was able to provide comfort in their time of need as well. Sara was never selfish about her spirituality for she shared it with everyone she came into contact with.
She will be extremely missed and will forever be in our hearts and minds. We will soon see her one day in heaven when our Lord Jesus Christ comes to take his people home.
For those that didn’t have the pleasure to get to know Sara, speak to her family and friends as they can share their favorite memories with Sara.
