With great sadness, the children of Frances Dickie announce her peaceful passing on Tuesday May 25, 2010 in Mississauga. Born August 23, 1925 in Winnipeg to Dorothy Heckels and Colonel Charles G. Bradshaw, Frankie was a proud Canadian whose maternal line could be traced back eight generations in this country. Always a loving and competent caregiver, Frances traveled to Toronto and graduated from St. Michael’s Hospital Nursing School in 1945, during which time she met and fell in love with Ronald Dickie. They married on August 16, 1947 and began a joyous life long partnership, which lasted until Ron’s death in 2000. Together they shared their lives with their 3 children: Paul (Lauren), Shelagh (Richard), and Blair (Maureen). A woman of style and individuality, Frankie enjoyed travel, swimming, skiing, bridge and square dancing. But her favorite role was that of Nana to her adored grandchildren Trevor, Connor, Laura, Alexandra and Cameron. She will be missed. Visitation will be held at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville (905-844-3221) on Saturday May 29, 2010 from 12:30 to time of service at 2:00 pm in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, or The Schizophrenic Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.
