Ruth Fryer (née Burke) was born in Stratford Ontario , on February 2, 1931, the second of four daughters to Harry (Sheffeild, England )and Catherine (Motherwell, Scotland ) Burke.
She is survived by her loving husband Glen along with their four children - Glenda Ruth, Richard (Maxine ) Catherine (Scott) and John.
Sadly missed by her grandchildren Marie Christine, Patricia Ruth, Catherine, Arthur, (Catherine) Mark, Paul (John) and Rebecca and by her four great grandchildren, Zuraya and Ezren (Marie) Jacob and Elena (Patricia).
Ruth grew up in Stratford, just a few blocks from Glen and graduated from Stratford Collegiate. She then began a career in nursing at the Salvation Army Grace Hospital in Toronto , after which she successfully qualified as a Registered Nurse.
Over the years her nursing career took her to hospital nursing (Toronto General, West Park Hospital ) as well as to Seniors' Homes in the community.
Always quick with a joke or funny story, Ruth was known for her amazing spirit and love of fun.
She enjoyed travelling with Glen throughout Canada, the U.S. and Greece. Their first trip cruising to the Carribean was a hit and they were planning another one together this winter.
An avid photographer, she always had a camera at the ready and she cherished her memories of these trips through her pictures.
Her grandchildren saw her playful side the most as she taught them how to ice skate, took them tobogganing, horseback riding, go kart riding, deep sea fishing, mini golfing, and with Glen sending them all each summer to Mini-Yo-We camp in Muskoka
It is with deep sadness that we say good bye to Ruth - but we know that as her quiet devotion to her Lord sustained her during her life - it will also sustain us , confident that she has found eternal life, peace and rest - in the words of one if her favourite hymns "Safe in the arms of Jesus"
