Ruth Bonkowski

Ruth Hedwig Elli Hagemeier BONKOWSKI
May 15, 1933 – February 20, 2021
It is with sadness that we announce the death of Ruth Hedwig Elli Hagemeier Bonkowski, on February
20, 2022 at the age of 88 in Mississauga Ontario.
Ruth was born in Ennepetal Germany and emigrated with her husband Richard and young son Guenther
to Canada in 1957. They joined Richard’s extended family in BC, and moved eventually to Unionville.
Ruth is survived by her three sons, Guenther (Esti), Ralph (Joan), and Mark (Stephanie), her
grandchildren Maya, Tali, Hannah, Megan, Devin, Tasha, and great grandchildren Joshua and Micah. She
was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Richard.
Ruth and Richard hosted many holiday feasts for their family, and Ruth is remembered especially for her
German specialties, sauerbraten, rote cole, dumplings, rouladen, and her excellent baking - ,
apfelkuchen, plum cake, lemon pound cake, and most of all her cheesecake.
Ruth suffered from osteoarthritis. A donation to the Arthritis Society of Canada in Ruth’s name would
be appreciated.

The family has arranged a private Memorial Service. Internment will take place on May 16, at the
Brampton Cemetery.
