We announce the peaceful passing of Ruth Naomi Bennett, who passed away on September 14, 2024, in Brampton, Ontario. Born on September 12, 1936, in Barbados, the second eldest of seven children born to Alice Maude Nichols and Simeon Brathwaite.

Ruth travelled to Canada in 1963 looking for new opportunities. She married Lionel Bennett in 1969 and together they worked tirelessly to provide for their family. She leaves behind her dear son Cyprian and stepson Lionel Jr. Reunited in death with her siblings Henderson, Julian, John, Patricia, Judy & Sheila. She will be lovingly remembered by her large extended family, her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and even great-great nieces and great-great nephews. She will be sadly missed by her dear friends Audrey, Marcia, Jean, Denise and Gloria. 

Throughout her career, she dedicated herself for over thirty years, working as a dietary aid at Sunnybrook Hospital. A woman of strength beyond expectation, she was dedicated to her family. She embraced her faith & found solace, guidance, and immense comfort in her relationship with God, especially as she faced various challenges in her life. A devout member of the Glad Tidings Tabernacle in Etobicoke. Throughout her life, Ruth worked tirelessly to provide for her family. She always put them first and ensured their needs were met. 

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home, Weston Chapel (2035 Weston Road, Toronto). Friends and family members are invited to pay their respects during this time. Funeral service to be held in the Ward Chapel on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Beechwood Cemetery in Toronto. 

She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, love for family, and the lasting impact she had on those around her will forever be remembered. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
