It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest Ruggero “Lelo” Bellio. Surrounded by the love of his family, Ruggero passed away on August 5, 2023 at 80 years old. He is now reunited with his beloved parents Angelo and Maria, and siblings Tina, Sergio and Martino.

Ruggero was born in Treviso, Italy where he and his family worked hard on the family farm. He bravely immigrated to Toronto alone at the age of 19 in search of a brighter future. Soon after, he met Luigina and it was love at first sight. He knew immediately this was the person he wanted to spend his life with. It wasn’t long before Luigina realized she couldn’t let this catch slip away. Ruggero and Luigina remained steadfast in their love and devotion to each other through 56 wonderful years of marriage. Through to his last moments, he was happiest with his beloved Luigina by his side.

Ruggero and Luigina had 3 children together: Elaine (George), Nadia (Fogel), and Danny (Jennifer). He dedicated his life to his family and to working hard to provide his children with opportunities he didn’t have. His love, strength and devotion are forever an inspiration to them. He is the adoring grandfather of Maia, Sapphire, River, Emma and Matthew. He will be dearly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, as well as siblings Giuseppe, Marisa and Elia.

He will be fondly remembered for his hard work, his quick wit, sense of humour, and charismatic spirit. He was the life of any party and lived life to the fullest. He loved the outdoors, food, soccer, hunting and Sunday outings to the trapshooting club with his family - always followed by a stop at Dairy Queen on the way home. He took pride in his work as a carpenter, framing and building houses. He was always quick to lend a hand to anyone in the extended family or neighbourhood who needed help with anything he could provide. He adored his family and his dogs, and often joked that the latter were the only ones who ever listened to him.

Our grief over losing Ruggero is infinite. He will remain forever loved and in our hearts.

Friends and family will be received at The Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge) on August 10th, 2023 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Parish (300 Ansley Grove Road) on August 11, 2023 at 9:30 am. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial donations, if desired may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Toronto.
