It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rosanna Cannella ‘nee Calligaro’. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Princess Margaret Hospital.
Rosanna Cannella was the beloved wife of the late Franco Cannella for 18 years. Dear sister to Luciano. Loving aunt to Giuliana (Roberto), Monica & Carlo. Proud great aunt to Luca, his wife Monica, and their son Niko, Alessia her husband Mario and their son Julian, Ariana & Isabella.
She came to Canada from England at the tender age of 7, with her parents Adelina and Alfonso as well as her older brother Luciano. In the years that followed her father and brother established a successful flooring business. It was here in Canada where she met and married the love of her life Franco. Their life was full of family gatherings, social outings and even after her beloved husband’s death she continued to build a relationship with his siblings.
Rosanna had various occupations until her retirement. She began her career as a hairdresser, and after a few years began to work in her family’s flooring business, until she found what she enjoyed most; working as a travel agent. She loved to work in her garden, where she tended to her beautiful flowers.
Rosanna had a tremendous number of good friends. She continued to maintain many friendships throughout her life....from her early days, throughout her various careers, present & past neighbours and with her volunteer work with the Famee Furlane Club, where she sat on the Board of Directors. She will be remembered as someone who would dedicate their time and provide care and support for those who needed it. Rosanna had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge) on Sunday, June 18, 2023, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral service in the Ward Chapel on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 11 o’clock.
