Peacefully, on the 13th of April 2022, Rosamma Mannamplakal, our beloved wife, mom and Amma passed away surrounded by her family. She will be dearly missed. Cherished wife for 49 years to Devasia, loving mother to Cindy (Arif) and Nancy (Kevin), and proud grandmother to Ciara, Raya, Jaylen, Cameron and Caleb.

She is also survived by her brother Papachen (Mary) and sisters Kuttyamma (Kuttyachen), Chinnamma (Thomachen), Mary (Vavachen) and Molly (Kuttyachen). Predeceased by her older brother Joseph (Aniamma). Loved and admired by her many nieces and nephews.

Born on November 6th, 1942 in Kerala, India, Rosamma showed great courage by deciding to immigrate to Canada on her own in 1969, without a guarantee of a job and not knowing anyone in Canada. She built her career as a registered nurse, starting in Hearst, Ontario, in a French speaking community. She amazed her French co-workers with her ability to adapt and excel in her new work environment, even though she could not speak a word of French! Over the next 40 years, she continued to work as a dedicated nurse at Sunnybrook Hospital in the ICU and Radiology departments.

After marrying Devasia in 1973, together they built their life in Toronto and grew a loyal circle of dear friends. Their family grew over the years, and in their children and grandchildren, they always instilled the importance of family, hard work and generosity. Rosamma was a very religious woman, who loved her family, spending time in her garden, cooking delicious meals and hosting gatherings for her many family and friends.

Rosamma will be missed and lovingly remembered for her gentle and kind nature, and her beautiful smile.
