On March 16 1932, Rosa the daughter of Angela and Saverio Pasquale was born in Modugno, Bari, Italy. She grew up with four brothers (Nicola, Saverio, Giuseppe, Leonardo) and her sister (Angela). She had a passion for sewing and studied under a seamstress in Italy.
In 1958 Rosa along with her eldest brother immigrated to Canada to start a better life (the Canadian dream so to speak). In Toronto she started to work at the Maple Leaf Laundry Company. Domenico (Mingu) Cozzi followed the love of his life Rosa (Rosetta) and a few years later they were wed on June 18,1960 at St. Peter's Church in Toronto. They have been inseparable for 22,493 days.
Devoted wife to Domenico and a dedicated caring mother to Rosa (Joe), Angela (Trevor) and Josie (Todd). She was a loving treasured nonna to Annemarie (Alberto), Luca, Biagio, Domenico and fur grandbaby Chanel. Through the years, while raising her children Rosa was a big part of the family business (Tyrrel Grocery). She was well known in the neighborhood for her delicious Italian cooking. One of her secret recipes can be found in the "Our Corner Grocery Store" children's book written about a day in the life of Domenico and Rosa seen through the eyes of their granddaughter Annemarie.
On Monday January 17, 2022, sadly our beloved Rosa - wife, mother and nonna passed away peacefully. She touched many lives with her big heart, passion for life and generosity. She will be dearly remembered by all who loved and admired her. We will cherish the beautiful memories in our hearts forever. Mom, you will truly be missed. We love you.
Rest in peace, Mom. Thank you for everything you have done for us. You set a high bar, but we will endeavour to make you proud.
A Private Service will take place at Beechwood Mausoleum. A celebration of Rosa’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you make a donation to the Diabetes Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
