Devoted husband to Mildred (nee-HARRIS) for over 61 years. Loving father to Tim (Donna) and grandfather to William. Predeceased by his four brothers and two sisters, survived by his youngest brother, James (Ruth).
Royal Navy veteran of the Second World War. Long-time employee for British Leyland before immigrating to Canada in the late 1970’s. Once in Canada, Ronald worked with NTN Bearings where he established Union relations for the betterment of both workers and management. Ronald retired with NTN in 1990 and began spending quality time with both family and friends. Travelling abroad with his loving wife Mildred, the couple were known to frequent relatives back in England and Belgium.
Avid sports fan, Ronald enjoyed watching English Premiership Soccer and The Toronto Blue Jays. Saturday nights were spent with Brian (Margaret) Webster watching the Toronto Maple Leafs “Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory”. Ronald was a great supporter of his grandson’s hockey and rugby teams.
The Sheldon family would like to thank the staff of Camilla Community Care- Mississauga for their excellent care over the past two years. A thank you to the Alzheimer’s Society of Peel who helped them through the journey that is Alzheimer’s disease.
Cremation has already taken place. An internment of Ronald’s ashes will commence at 11:00am in Glen Oaks Memorial Gardens (3164 Ninth Line, Oakville) on Saturday August 22nd 2015. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations may be made in Ronald’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Peel.
