Ron died at his home in Oakville, ON, the place he wanted to be, in his favourite room with his wife and family by his side. Survived by his wife Jane, son David (Caralee), daughters Margot (Andrew DaCosta) and Elizabeth (Tony Dixon) and by step-children Joe Michaud, Diane (Doug Bliss) and Sue (Terrence Ryan) and grandchildren Danielle, Andre, Stephanie, Sam, Sydney and Zoe. Also survived by his sisters Lillian (Omer Viau), Barbara Craft and sister-in-law Lois Green. He was much loved by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents William and Florence Moore Green of Saint John, NB and his brothers George, William and sister Amy. Ron began a lengthy career with the Bank of Nova Scotia in West Saint John at age 17, working all over the country in small towns and big cities. He spent 19 years with Scotiabank in Jamaica where he and former wife Veronica raised their three children before returning to Canada in 1978. Ron and Jane were married in 1987. A lifelong runner, Ron was usually seen running through the streets of Oakville dark and early before boarding the GO train for work in Toronto. He had fun biking with Jane and with his grandchildren along the seacoast of Nova Scotia. When he retired from the Bank, he at last found the time to skate at our local rinks and learn to ski well enough to enjoy annual trips to Mont-Tremblant and Whistler. Whether he was hiking in Newfoundland or paddling his canoe in a Provincial or National Park, he listened to the stories of people he met and consequently learned much about our beautiful country and its people. He touched many lives with his gentle humour and always looked for the best in people. He will be missed by all who knew him. Throughout his more than five years of living with lung cancer, he had nothing but praise for his medical team at Credit Valley Cancer Centre and for the palliative care at home he received from his kind and knowledgeable nurses and doctors. The family will welcome friends and neighbours from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, September 6th at Ron and Jane's home at 192 Mohawk Road, Oakville.
